New Orleans: Taking it Easy in the Big Easy

I know the title of this post is lame, but how do you accurately sum up such a rad trip?

From Texas we drove into Louisiana and headed straight for our friends in New Orleans.

Sam and Julie now live just a few blocks from the French Quarter, so we spent the week with them and their cat, Gerald, in their beautiful shotgun-style house living life in the Big Easy.

They are both such fun, down-to-earth, and just plain cool people and I’m so happy to have them as friends and to catch a glimpse into the New Orleans life they’ve created. I wish we could have been there a few weeks earlier for Mardi Gras, but during our visit the weather was amazing and we never ran out of things to do.

In addition to drinks and daqs, we exhausted nearly every activity that City Park had to offer, costumed up to go out on Bourbon Street, walked along the river, thrift shopped, ate some amazing Southern food (including several pounds of boiled crawfish), saw the behind-the-scenes float wear house where Sam works, and played enough board games to start me off on an obsession with Kingdomino, and even spent time with some more awesome friends, Alvin and Abby, who came into New Orleans from Atlanta for the weekend! Overall is was just a super chill and awesome week spent with amazing people.

If you guys are reading this, Karl and I enough for hosting us and showing us an incredible time in New Orleans, and hopefully we will be able to return the favor in Shanghai sometime soon!
